Hello, my name is John Altenhofen. I am the Elementary School Counselor for Black Earth and Mazomanie Elementary Schools. I serve students and families in 4K through 5th grade.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and recently completed my Master’s Degree in School Counseling at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Last school year, I completed an internship at West Middleton Elementary School. I also have over six years of experience working at a mental health hospital in Madison.
My wife, Crosby, works as a nurse at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. We recently welcomed a golden retriever puppy, Summit, into our family. We live in Madison, but I grew up in Menasha, Wisconsin. I am looking forward to becoming part of the Black Earth and Mazomanie communities.
Outside of school, you can find me participating in many athletic activities and enjoying the outdoors. I spend lots of time playing tennis, running, golfing, and playing just about any sport I can. Hiking at various Wisconsin State Parks is one of my favorite summer activities. I spend time in the fall hunting whitetail deer. I am also one of the biggest Green Bay Packer fans that you will ever meet.
